About Institutional Repositories

The US Army War College (USAWC) Press supports the USAWC by publishing monographs and a quarterly academic journal, Parameters, focusing on geostrategic issues, national security, and Landpower. USAWC Press materials are distributed to key strategic leaders in the Army and Department of Defense, the military educational system, Congress, the media, other think tanks and defense institutes, and major colleges and universities. The USAWC Press serves as a bridge to the wider strategic community.

SSI studies are published by the Institute and distributed to key strategic leaders in the Army and Department of Defense, the military educational system, Congress, the media, think tanks, defense institutes, and major colleges and universities. SSI studies use history and current political, economic, and military factors to develop strategic recommendations.

Articles and Editorials are published by SSI and distributed to our readers in the Army and Department of Defense, the military educational system, Congress, the media, other think tanks and defense institutes, and major colleges and universities. SSI Articles and Editorials are created by our research professors and use history and current political, economic, and military factors to develop strategic recommendations.

The faculty of the US Army War College includes a carefully selected mix of men and women with deep experience in military and national security strategy. To provide a venue for their analysis of the challenges and best practices of strategic leadership and make it available to the students and faculty of USAWC and other institutions in the professional military educational system, the Strategic Studies Institute has created this "practitioners' corner."

For over a decade, the USAWC has published the Key Strategic Issues List (KSIL) to inform students, faculty, and external research associates of strategic topics requiring research and analysis. A subset of these topics, designated as Chief of Staff of the Army special interest topics, consists of those which demand special attention. The USAWC will address these as Integrated Research Projects and other research efforts. The USAWC in coordination with Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA), major commands throughout the Army, and the Joint and interagency community have developed the remaining Army Priorities for Strategic Analysis.

This online guide will take you through the publishing, editing, and promotion process with the US Army War College Press (USAWC Press). USAWC Press has a small, but highly effective publishing team; consequently, it is very important that you follow the steps outlined in this guide to expedite the publishing of your manuscript. The following lists identify the publication process, the items that you must provide to initiate the publication process, and what you can expect from USAWC Press’s publication team to ensure a timely, accurate, and well-promoted finished product.

Institutional Repositories (IRs) bring together all of an Institution's research under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that research.

IRs are an excellent vehicle for working papers or copies of published articles and conference papers. Presentations, senior theses, and other works not published elsewhere can also be published in the IR.
